Private tutor in Indianapolis, IN
Education
Butler University, B.S. Chemistry and a Minor in Biology. Upon graduation, my GPA was a 3.0. Shortly after graduation, I completed the GRE with a score of 1360. This score placed me in the top 5% of individuals that had taken the GRE. My tutoring and teaching philosophy stems straight from my own personal experiences - each student has a very unique way of learning a subject. With this important fact in mind, I cater my teaching to each individual student's needs.
Experience
The most important characteristics of a tutor are trust, knowledge and how personable the tutor is with your child. Couple this with an unending desire for learning and you have found a tutor that has a unique set of skills and who wants to show your child the joys of Science! I have an extensive work history with children in all age groups. In college, I worked as a summer camp counselor and was responsible for twelve 1st - 3rd grade or 4th-6th children during the summer - not to mention that I'm the father of three children. Furthermore, I have experience tutoring 7th-11th grade students taking Science and Biology courses. I graduated from Butler University with a degree in Chemistry and I minored in Biology. I've taken two semesters of general chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and biochemistry. Also, I completed Biology, Physiology, Zoology, Cell Biology and Botany courses. I also conducted undergraduate research for one year. After graduating, I worked for 2.5 years at the I.U. School of Medicine as a Research Associate. I then worked at Eli Lilly & Company as a Biologist for 5.5 years. I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of teaching and am currently a middle/high school teacher. I have 5 Scientific journal publications, including a 1st author paper in PLOS One and a paper in Nature Communications.
