Grace C.

Private tutor in Indianapolis, IN

Education

I have my BA in anthropology and MS in geology from Purdue University. I have had an extensive lab experience in soil chemistry and geochemistry. I also travel all over the world for field studies and to China where I taught business English for a year.

Experience

I have tutored or taught in museums, outreach programmes, K-12 student teach programmes, and as a college teacher overseas. I have also taught geoscience classes and K-12 education classes as a graduate student teaching assistant. I have also tutored my classmates in chemistry, physics, and basic math. I want to be a tutor because I believe in the power and value of knowledge. I believe that scholastic endeavours are more than just good grades, but something that we can take with us beyond where we are today. I'd like to give everyone that chance by giving the skills and abilities to understand the subject, then take it a step further. My natural teaching style is hands on exploration, which works well with people with learning disorders such as ADHD or ADD. I do like to tailor the lesson and style to each person's needs, though, so please let me know if you have any particular considerations.

Hobbies

I grew up in a small village called Oswestry in Shropshire, England where I attended an international boarding school. I have a fondness for tea, travelling, hiking, and debating. I love to study about psychology, philosophy, and the interactions between human actions and landscape changes. I am an archaeologist at heart, but a geomorphologist and chemist in mind. Other notable or odd things about me: - I am training to get into the National Guard Reserves. - I'm a bit of a health food nut. - I'm a systems person and love organisation. - I don't own a car, and bike or walk everywhere I go. - I write fiction stories. - I own my own private R&D firm startup. - I love to crochet. - My favourite animals are platypi and penguins. - I spell the British way, and have many British mannerisms. And yes, I have the accent, too. :)
