I am pursuing my degree in neuroscience at the University of Illinois with a focus on pre-med. My ultimate goal is to have a career in surgery. To that end, I work at the University of Illinois Chicago hospital on bariatric surgical research which has been recognized by several organizations. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work as a mentor and tutor for students in the local public high schools at an after school program. I have found this work to be incredibly rewarding and I truly love working with students. I currently tutor a variety of subjects, including algebra 1, high school and college English, elementary math, middle school math, biology, reading, writing, essay editing, literature, English grammar and syntax, psychology, arithmetic, pre-algebra, life sciences, English, social sciences, and biology. I teach similar subjects for IB students and I enjoy helping students prepare for upcoming standardized exams such as the ACT. I know that it can be academically intimidating for many children to consider a career in medicine. I enjoy telling them about the reality of the course work and giving them real life examples of how their studies can be used and what is possible for them if they continue to give their best effort in their own academic endeavors.
