I get the most fulfillment helping my students prepare for the ACT. I enjoy instructing them in homework and organization as well as test prep. I focus on teaching them strategies and test taking methods for different exams. I also like to encourage them by identifying their specific strengths, showing them how to use their strengths in their studies, and improving on weaker areas. I have tutored science and math, as well as many middle school and high school subjects. My instructional philosophy is direct; I show how a problem is approached, go through practice questions with the student, and then the student will teach the lesson to me to demonstrate their level of understanding. I believe any student can master a subject with enough repetition in this manner. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and minored in business management at Ball State University. Since graduation, I have worked as a tutor focusing on test prep in Louisville, KY. I tutor many subjects, including test prep for the PSAT, SAT, SSAT, ACT, HSPT, and GRE, as well as math (algebra 1 and 2, middle school math, and elementary math). I enjoy playing and watching sports (especially football and basketball), playing board games, brewing, cooking, and experimenting with new recipes.
